Communities celebrate Veterans Day

and community media is there...

The service and sacrifice of our armed forces was acknowledged in community after community on Veterans Day with song, special events, and exciting pageantry.  It kept community media centers very busy over the last week!  Many businesses and non-profits played a role in these annual events and by covering them, media centers brought them community-wide attention.

Here's a sampling:

Oshkosh Media documented two high school events and one at the Winnebago County Courthouse.  The one at Oshkosh West included a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly installed veterans honor wall and featured U.S. Sens. Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin and U. S. Rep. Glenn Grothman (pictured).

Mauston Community Television captured a Mauston High School event featuring the high school jazz band and choir that was organized by the National Honor Society.

Whitewater Community Television promoted the VetsRoll fundraiser that raises money to bring veterans to Washington DC for four days of remembrance around Memorial Day.

Oregon Community Access viewers saw the Oregon Veterans Day Parade complete with prancing horses!

Stevens Point's LPFM radio station WSNP-LP played patriotic music all day.

Pleasant Prairie Media Channel 25 covered the Veterans ceremony at the Veteran's Memorial in Prairie Springs Park and provided the sound and video support for the event.  This year VFW Post 7308 was recognized for being named Wisconsin's All State Post for the 7th consecutive year.
