What is Wisconsin Community Media?

We are all about Community Television. 

Our members are community television stations that serve the communication needs of dozens of cities, towns, and villages across the state.

Our stations can be found on cable television systems and on the Internet.

The mission of Wisconsin Community Media is to serve our member station's needs and to make Wisconsin a great place for residents to view and participate in community television.  WCM works within the "access television" community and with other organizations to make it easier for public speech and information distribution to happen on the local level.  We work with individuals, organizations, educational institutions and local governments.

WCM is a 501(c)(6) professional member organization.  Currently, WCM has 60 public, education, and government ("PEG") access television member stations in Wisconsin. 

Member stations enjoy networking opportunities, resource sharing, program sharing, conferences, a nationwide clipping service, a listserv, a website members reference area, and registered lobbying services.

WCM was founded in 1998 as the Wisconsin Association of Public, Education, and Government Access Channels (WAPC).  At our annual membership meeting in May 2011, the membership voted to change our name to Wisconsin Community Media in order to reflect our broadening role as a public resource. This new website is a big step in that direction and we hope you use this website to find YOUR local station and use it.
